Christophe Bourguignon – LCR Honda Chief Engineer: “2009 marks Randy's fourth season in MotoGP, and his second aboard the Honda RCV bike. During 2008 Randy impressed everybody during preseason testing and official practices, the championship scores were not necessarily as expected but Randy showed a lot of determination and was consistently within the fastest eight out on track.Riding for the second year with the same team and a similar technical package, Randy will be able to use all the technical data and information recorded during 2008.As we look forward to the coming season, we are more prepared than ever to face the competition ahead. The new 2009 Honda bike will feature a complete new engine and a new chassis. With increased maximum power and a better controllability, the new package should allow Randy to improve his racing performance.Randy has showed in the past that he has a really big potential and with his riding skills, he is one of the fastest riders in the championship. After a difficult first preseason test in Sepang, Randy and all his technical staff had to raise their game at the following test in Qatar.With a better feeling on the front end, a better riding position and a revised engine management, Randy could show his potential and put the LCR bike in a better position and at the top of the Honda riders. The power increase thanks to the new engine should put Randy in a better position during race meetings and should allow him to reduce the risks during cornering and to be able to stay with other competitors in the straight.The 2009 challenge will be really tough, against all the full factory-supported motorcycles and the Jerez test will be really important to validate all our technical choices, bearing in mind the first race in Qatar.
