TOP TEN IN THE END FOR DE PUNIET AT JEREZ GP

Jerez, 2 May: the second round of 2010 season at Jerez de la Frontera was run today ahead 122.048 warm fans and the Spaniard rider Lorenzo took the victory ahead Pedrosa and Rossi in a thrilling final lap. The 27-lap race has started at 14:00 local time with ambience temperature of 27°C (44°C on the ground) with LCR Honda MotoGP rider Randy de Puniet starting from the second row as he rode another dazzling qualifying session yesterday posting the 6th fastest time of the day.

After having clocked the tenth lap time in this morning warm up session at the 4423m track, the Frenchman riding the RC212V was unable to replicate his yesterdays performance in race trim ending 9th. Though De Puniet was expecting a better result at the Andalusian track, he has the capability to run out at the front as he proved in the first race of the season in Qatar so the Frenchman and his Team will make further set up adjustments in tomorrows testing day ahead the next round at Le Mans race track. De Puniet is holding the 6th position in the provisional world standing with 17 points.

De Puniet – 9th: “Certainly we are a bit disappointed because we aimed to get a different placement today. After a very positive qualification I took a bad start from the second row passing the first lap in 12th position: then it was a very hard race for me! The race was very close with many riders doing almost the same lap time and after a few laps I have started to have some issues with the front tyre. In those conditions I could not keep the pace I had yesterday as I have lost the front in several places along the track. However I am still holding the 6th position in the standing and I am sure our bike is acceptable at the moment so we must continue in this direction”.
